Nude and Maxi - Styling ideas

Nude

Nude by fourtyand featuring a lace top

Yesterday, I chose tan colors for the office. I combined my maxi skirt with a white lace tee and a light beige leather jacket. My maxiskirt is pleated and a little darker shade than the skirt in this picture. Lighter tones are easy to combine. Nearly every other color goes with it. For the office I styled it more elegantly, therefore I wore high pumps, a classic bag and jewelry in silver and pearls. This way, the maxi skirt is suitable for the office and not only for evening or the beach.

I like maxi skirts a lot and they fit me well because I am tall. For hot summer days they are very airy and light and you can easily hide white legs, maybe more sturdy calves or hair stubbles. You should put your top into the skirt, it always looks good. To emphasize a small waist, you can wear a belt at yor waist. Sometimes, I combine a cropped top, however, I try not to show my belly. If you prefer longer tops outside, you should definitely wear a belt. I don't like this styling, since it doesn't look very modern.

For colder days, short jackets - best made of leather or denim look great with the long skirt. I wear high shoes with it or for casual occasions also flat shoes or sandals. These are ideal for the 70s trend. Boots also go very well with this style.

For every occasion and for every mood there is a styling possibility for the maxi skirt. On my Pinterest board "Maxiskirts" you can get more styling ideas.

Cannes 2

Cannes 2

Rachel Weisz is very beautiful. I like her face a lot, elegant and timeless.

With her 45 years she was brilliant in a teal silk evening gown. The Prada dress remined me of a Hollywood-Diva. It had a eyehole cleavage and it fitted her expertly. She wore it with glittering earrings and a black clutch. I like the color of the dress very much. The fabric is beautiful but not very figure forgiving. Unfortunately, this dress is only for models and actresses.

Which dress did you like the most in Cannes this year?

Pretty in pastels

Pretty in pastels

Pretty in pastels by fourtyand on polyvore

Today, I wore pastels in the office. Since the weather outside wasn't so nice, I decided to go on the lighter colors. I love pink anyway and my high-waisted jeans are also a very pale shade of denim. Together with the nude pumps and the light tanned bag, it was an appropriate outfit for a rainy day at the office. The center of the look is definetely my pink and white tweed jacket which I like a lot. Mine is from Zara and I bought it already a couple of years back. Chanel-inspired jackets will never go out of style, so I will wear mine for the next 10 years at least and I love the color!

Rihanna - Chinese Queen of the Met Gala 2015

Met Gala is one of the biggest red carpet events with very much glamour and is even bigger than the Oscars. Extravagant looks can make us dropping our jawlines and it is definitely not easy to determine the best outfit of this spectacular evening.

On top there is always a theme to find the perfect dress to go with. It`s a little bit of a costume party and a lot of fun. This year, the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York hat the title: China-through-the-looking-glass and tries to demonstrate the influence of China on Western culture and fashion. Dressing accordingly was not easy for designers and stylists. That`s why many celebrities choose traditional or especially sexy see-through dresses.

My Queen of the Met Gala was singer Rihanna. In her really gigantic evening gown from the Chinese designer Guo Pei she was stunning. The greatness of this dress comes from the intensive yellow and of course from the train. But see for yourself:

Isn`t it amazing?

Really working the Chinese theme was model Georgia May Jagger. She wore a  dressing gown style evening dress. The colorful piece was designed by the new Gucci-Designer Alessandro Michele. and together with the green headpiece she looked gorgeous.

Life Ball 2015 in Vienna

A year goes by so fast and it's time for the next Life Ball on Saturday, May 16 in Vienna. And still, I find it very important to point out the importance of fighting the still deathly disease AIDS. But one can defend oneself to 100 percent from getting this dsease.

Conchita Wurst as Gustav Klimts „Goldene Adele“, photographed by Ellen von Unwerth
Here a few facts: The number of HIV-infections has decreased since 2001 by 44 percent, but only 30 percent of HIV-infected are treated accordingly. Still there are about 1,5 Million people dying from AIDS. Therefore, spectacles like this are still crucial to raise money. The earnings from the Life Ball are going to national and international organizations like the "Foundation for Aids-Research" (amfAR), the "Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project" (CTAOP) or the "Clinton Health Access Initiative" (CHAI).

As in previous years, there will be a lot of prominent people so that the whole world will notice. Besides Jean Paul Gaultier, Charlize Theron und Mary J. Blige there will also be Kelly Osbourne, Carmen Electra, Dita von Teese or Paula Abdul. This year, for the 11th time the "Crystal of Hope Award" with 100.000 Euro will be given to the organization "Sentebale" of prince Harry of Wales and prince Seeiso of Lesotho. This charity supports with its "Herd Boys" programme herd boys in Lesotho to get education.

Around the Life Ball there are also other charity events. On Wednesday evening the "Salon Imperial" took place. There, projects that were given the "Crystal of Hope Award" in the last years, showed what they had done so far with the money. On this picture of this event, there is also Lena Hoschek who has collected money from her charity project for the SWAP – Safe Water and AIDS Project.

On Friday, the first VIPs like Kelly Osbourne and Carmen Electra and other guests will arrive on a plane from New York. On the evening, the "Red Ribbon Celebration Concert" in Burgtheater will take place. Singer Anna Netrebko and Placido Domingo will perform. Afterwards there will be a Welcome Cocktail at Hotel Le Meridien.

On the event day itself, the "First Ladies Luncheon" at Schloss Belvedere and the "Aids Solidarity Gala" with auction f.i. of the Adele-dress worn by Conchita Wurst on the poster above will take place. The evening starts with the gigantic opening ceremony with the theme "Ver Sacrum" (Latin for sacred spring), which will also be broadcasted on ORF live beginning at 9:30 p.m.

The presenters are the Irish comedian Graham Norton, Austrian comedian Andreas Vitasek, German actor Jürgen Maurer and TV presenter Alice Tumler (Eurovision Song Contest). Highlights are the entry of the debutants, the performances of Trevor Jackson and Soul-Diva Mary J. Blige. 20 years after his first Life Ball runway show, Jean Paul Gaultier will present a fashion show with Kelly Osbourne or Carmen Electra as models.

Mothers day is always a nice day to remember what our mothers have done for us. Famous mothers and daughters are presented on Popsugar here. You can find pictures of Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson or Meryl Streep and Louisa Jacobson Gummer. In my collage above there is also a picture of all three daughters of Meryl Streep.

First pictures of Meryl Streep in her new film "Ricki and the Flash" were shown last week. The pictures and some background information has FashionGoneRouge here. I am already looking forward to this movie since I like Meryl Steep a lot and she can really sing. In the meantime there is also a trailer to watch here

amazing links of the week

When you get to Vienna and are looking for fine groceries, the first address is the Meinl am Graben. Vanessa has published wonderful pictures from this shop on her blog windowsofvienna.com. If you like beautiful photos of Vienna, food, flowers and travel, her blog is a must for you.

On the website Refinery29 there is a great compilation of makeup tips to cover up small beauty flaws. I have to fight dark eye rings and pigmentation in wrong places. You will find a solution for everything.

Peonies are for me one of the most beautiful flowers, especially in combination with roses. Siela has made very amazing photos from the Viennese Burggarten with the most beautiful peonies. You can find them here on her blog Theviennesegirl.

The amazing Cate Blanchet was at Armani's 40-years party and looked wonderful. The white tuxedo and the hair are gorgeous. I didn't like the bold ribbon belt. It could have been a little bit smaller. But see for yourself here on FasionGoneRouge.

Favorite spring trends - how I wear the 70s Trend

One of the fashion trends we will see this year on the streets everywhere is the 70s revival. Nowadays, we all can wear what we want. There is no such thing as a fashion dictate. In the 70s, every woman had to wear the same fashion, because fashion was relatively expensive and more difficult to get and therefore the trends lasted much longer. But today, we have more freedom in choosing what we want to wear. I wear what I want and when it is on trend - even better! But from time to time we all should try a new trend to make fashion fun!

And now my inspirations on the 70s: Flared Jeans, trench coats, plateau sandals, long tunics, buttoned denim skirts, maxi dresses, fringe pieces, suede or lace are the most important elements of this trend. Raquel Welch, Farrah Fawcett or Jane Birkin are the big styling idols of this decade. These days, I wouldn't wear all elements of this style at the same time, because it would look like a costume. I choose one or two trend pieces and combine them with classic pieces like a blazer or blouse in neutral colors or black and white. This way, the so called "Hippie-Stile" becomes wearable and can also look elegant. Here are pieces I will wear to follow this trend:

Flared pants

The easiest piece to incorporate are flared pants. They are very much on trend. Only a little flared and in all colors or made of denim, they are a perfect new trend piece. A couple of years ago I bought myself flared pants from H&M in light denim with high waist. Together with my flower blouse and tan suede jacket this is a modern and on trend outfit I will wear often this spring-summer. I also own a few long tunics to go with the flared jeans for easy summer days. Furthermore, I will buy a fringe piece like a jacket or bag soon.

Fringe

Fringe von fourtyand auf polyvore

My sandals with fringes I will wear together with my white, long summer dress. Accompanied with a brown fringe bag this will be my ultimate outfit for hot summer days in 70s style. Fringe suede jackets are also really great and can be combined in many ways.

On this blog you find here denim pieces in 70s style. Jeans were very much loved back then and I also love my flared jeans, as can be seen next:
